Being a victim of crime can affect your mental health and wellbeing. The Crime Victims Counselling Service provides counselling and support for people affected by crime. We make sure victims have the resources and support they need to move on with their lives.
We can help people who are the victim of a crime or who witness a crime. We can also help relatives and close friends of a victim.
Our counselling service is tailored to the needs of each client. Clients are entitled to up to eight clinical counselling sessions. Counselling can be face-to-face, by telephone or in a group setting.
We can assist with:
• Information and advice about the legal process and your rights
• Applications for compensation.
• Referrals to other support services
• Community education and training
People can refer themselves to this program. Service providers (including GPs and agencies) can also make referrals.

Our Dual Diagnosis Practitioner supports people with complex mental health and substance misuse concerns.
We help people who experience barriers to accessing mental health services because of substance misuse. This includes people with personality and mood disorders and cognitive impairments.
Counselling: We tailor counselling sessions to the needs of our clients. We use a range of techniques, which can include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, harm reduction and relapse prevention, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and narrative therapy.
Family counselling: We help clients and their families to make sure they have the support they need to address mental health and substance misuse concerns.

The Community Mental Health program supports families with children and young people who show signs of mental illness. Our goal is to improve mental health and wellbeing for individuals, families and communities.
This program helps children and young people up to the age of 18 who are showing early signs of, or are at risk of, developing a mental illness. We also help their families and carers.
We help children, young people and their families by providing support, assistance and group work. We provide community outreach, mental health promotion and education. Communities that understand mental health needs can improve mental health outcomes.
