This week 13 participants from the Thamarrurr Youth Indigenous Corporation graduated from CatholicCare NT’s 6 Week Money Workshop, Ku Palyirr Narla (Big Money).
Over 6 weeks participants attended the CatholicCare NT office to learn about needs and wants, how to cook healthy and affordable meals, banking, debts, shopping, budgeting and saving.
The feedback from community members was overwhelmingly positive and this was evidenced by attendance rates of 100% at 5 out of 6 sessions.
All participants enjoyed the graduation ceremony where they were presented with a certificate, cook book and electric fry pan for healthy home cooking.
Today participants eagerly shared feedback about the workshop and what they enjoyed most:
‘Saving money’
‘It was fun doing the workshop’
‘I enjoy the cooking and also the game of banking’
‘I enjoy cooking the most and baking cakes and budgeting and saving’
Majella Dungul said ‘I enjoyed cooking the cupcakes, the game of banking and also the crocodile and lily pad game’.
Participants reflecting on what they learnt over the 6 weeks and filling in evaluation forms.
