Stuart (Stu) is a member of CatholicCare NT’s Program Management team in his position as the Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) Manager. Stu has a long background in cross cultural work doing humanitarian activities in India and here in Australia. He came to CatholicCare NT in 2024 with 5 years’ experience in counselling & group facilitation including 2 years as a Men’s Behaviour Change Program facilitator.
Stu previously ran a successful MBCP in the indigenous community of Cherbourg, as well as in Kingaroy in Southern Queensland. He transitioned that program from the Duluth model to the Ken MacMaster ‘Disrupting Family Violence’ model. He is an advocate for bringing a mental health approach to Domestic Violence work, in order to increase men’s ability to be safe with their partners and children.
In his role as MBCP Program Manager, Stu’s expertise is utilised to support participant outcomes such as increased family safety and greater self-awareness. He is responsible for the court support programs, family safety programs and the MBCP programs across multiple sites. His experience with cross cultural environments is essential considering the complex mix of cultures in the Northern Territory.
Stu holds a Bachelor of Theology, and a Masters in Counselling & Applied Psychotherapy.
