Helen Applin has worked for CatholicCare NT for 15 years and currently serves on the executive as General Manager Quality Systems. Her position is responsible for managing the organisation’s accreditation processes and requirements, the controlled documents system, the client database system and provide input and support for quality systems throughout the organisation.
Helen spent her career working in child protection, community health social work and counselling positions for the government and community organisations before coming to CatholicCare NT. She then joined the organisation as a team leader for the AOD program, where she ran groups and counselled individuals with AOD issues. She also provided support and education to families impacted by AOD misuse before moving into a management position with the organisation.
Helen is driven by her belief that as a society we should strive to make access to services and opportunities equitable for people. This means working harder to reach those who might be missing out because of their remote location, limited English language skills, poverty and/or mental health state, or other specific circumstances because they have a right to the best quality services possible.
Helen holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Graduate Certificate in Psychology of Risk, as well as certificates in meditation, alcohol and other drugs work, and training and assessment.
