The Short Term Therapies Triage (STTT), previously known as Access to Allied Psychological Services Program (ATAPS) is a Commonwealth Government funded program established to assist patients in accessing mental health care with an Allied Health Provider. STTT is a short-term mental health intervention program, which provides access to effective, low cost treatment for people with mild to moderate mental illness, such as depression or anxiety, who may not otherwise be able to access the Medicare-subsidised mental health services. STTT offers short term interventions (up to 6 sessions) for eligible Northern Territory residents.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, there is no cost for the program.
Northern Territory residents who are unable to afford psychological services, and who meet at least one of the following criteria:
The Short Term Therapies Triage Service assesses referrals for program eligibility, and acts as the link between the referring agency or GP to the ATAPS service provider.
Referrals are primarily received from GPs and paediatricians. The referral will be emailed or faxed to the STT Triage Service. Once the STT Triage Service approves the referral as eligible for STT Triage services, the referral will be forwarded to an approved STTT Provider. The allocated provider will make contact with you to organise an appointment. If you have not heard from the service provider within 2 weeks, please contact your GP. Your GP will be notified if your referral has been assessed as not eligible for STTT, and should make contact with you to discuss alternative options.
Email contact is preferred, however phone enquiries may be received.
