CatholicCare NT celebrated the official opening of two new offices on 14 and 16 June 2017 in Malak (Darwin) and Nauiyu (Daly River). Over 100 guests from the local communities attended the openings.
Both buildings were blessed by Bishop Eugene Hurley, as well as the Larrakia and Malak Malak Traditional Owners.
The two buildings were both renovated extensively and have been designed to create professional working spaces for our staff. A key feature of both designs has been the creation of community space and an environment that will invite community participation and ownership.
“Our mission is to improve the health, wellbeing and resilience of individuals, families and communities by ensuring we have resources available on the ground to the community.”
“This means a commitment to infrastructure that practically demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the life of the community”
“This also gives us the opportunity to support the local community to take ownership of finding solutions to problems by increasing the capacity and skills of our local staff members.”
The new Malak office – known as the Malak Family Hub – will be home to the Community Mental Health and Children and Family Programs, while the Daly River office will be home to a School Counselling Program, a Men’s Healing Program and Parenting Support.
CatholicCare NT would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work, support and dedication.
