CatholicCare leads the way in NDIS

Did you know CatholicCare NT is setting a precedent in the Australian NDIS field?

As a rule, NDIS does not engage with prison inmates until 6-9 months prior to release. However, CatholicCare NT is currently working with an inmate who is blind and only started their sentence earlier this year.

We managed to obtain a braille printer/writer, so they are commencing a braille course through Vision Australia. They were also waitlisted to receive an assistance dog on their release.

CatholicCare NT has negotiated the services of an assistance person who acts as their eyes in the facility and arranged training for this person and prison guards to further assist the participant in day to day activities.
