The 2018 Director's NAIDOC Awards

Each year, NAIDOC Week is celebrated in the first week of July. This is a time for us to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements, and it is an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country, our society, and, for us, our organisation.

This year, CatholicCare NT marked the occasion with the Director's NAIDOC Awards. These awards were established to acknowledge our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff that are doing extraordinary work in the organisation.

There were four award categories that relate to the national NAIDOC award categories as well as our organisational values.

The winners were:

  • Theme Award - Because of Her, We Can
Values: Respect, Working for the Common Good and Participation
Winner: Caroline Busch, Cultural Development Coordinator (Darwin)

  • Team Award - Engaging Community
Values: Working for the Common Good, Dignity and Respect
Winners: Louise Pandella, Benigna Ngulfundi and Therese Daly – the Nauiyu (Daly River) Safe House team

  • Emerging Leaders

Winners: Charmaine Busch, FWC Case Manager (Katherine) and Hamish McDonald, IFPS Case Manager (Alice Springs)

  • Outstanding Achievement

Winner: Leonie Young, Employment Consultant (Santa Teresa)

We also had staff that were honoured by their local community NAIDOC committees.

Congratulations to all of our staff on their well-deserved awards. We’re proud of our phenomenal, passionate and dedicated staff, and we’re honoured to have them work for us.

Because of them, we can. #NAIDOC2018
