Cultural and Linguistic Diversity

CatholicCare NT recognises the traditions and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and acknowledges the rich migrant heritage of our increasingly diverse society including different religious beliefs.

We believe that all people and all communities are equal in dignity and have equal rights.

Our diverse workplace provides us with a rich tapestry of culture and includes employees from cities, urban, regional and remote areas of Australia, from different countries, including non-English speaking countries, and people who have many different religious beliefs.

We accept, respect and celebrate diverse cultures by:

  • celebrating similarities and differences and encourage employees and clients to share their cultures and experiences
  • promoting and celebrating significant cultural and religious dates
  • developing policies and training to promote cross-cultural awareness
  • regularly reviewing resources and service delivery methods to be more friendly, culturally driven and ones that contribute to building better lives for people.
